The EP PowerRoller is a compact, maintenance-free drive unit for operating roller screens in greenhouses. The PowerRoller has been specially designed for driving long roller screens in glass greenhouses and for rolling up the plastic film on polytunnel greenhouses. The PowerRoller can also be supplied with theEP weight compensator. This ensures that the screen rolls up and down smoothly, minimizing creases in the screen material.
Tried-and-tested technology
The PowerRoller was developed in-house and consists of a combination of perfectly matched worm gear and worm wheel transmissions, resulting in near-silent operation. The self-braking worm wheel transmission ensures that the double-sided output drive shafts are braked when the drive unit stops moving. The system has been tested extensively for force, functionality and durability.
The PowerRoller is equipped with a reliable limit switch system that has already proven its worth in the RW motor gearboxes. Since each roller screen is controlled independently, the screen drive units have a long lifespan. The PowerRoller is suitable for use worldwide thanks to the wide range of electric motors it can be fitted with. These electric motors vary in the number of phases, supply voltage, mains frequency and quality marks.
Even force distribution
As the PowerRoller can be installed in the middle of a roller screen, force is distributed evenly preventing extreme torsion in the roller tube. This allows you to accurately control the long roller screens that are commonly used today. It also makes the screens last longer.
The maximum roll-up height is approximately 5 metres at 43 revolutions. Various combinations of guiding systems are available for the PowerRoller. Both the bottom and top of the guiding system is available as a fixed or moveable model. At the bottom, the moveable model is designed for purlin widths of 80 mm to allow the PowerRoller to tilt freely. If the purlin width is greater than 100 mm, our fixed model can be used at the bottom.
Space-saving design
The compactEP PowerRoller combined with the guiding system requires minimal installation space, so you won´t have to modify the greenhouse structure. Even if the walls are fitted with heating pipes, only few modifications are needed. The speed of theEP PowerRoller has been adjusted to that of theEP tube motor, allowing both motors to run together perfectly.

The PowerRoller can be supplied with theEP Weight Compensator. This ensures that the screen rolls up and down smoothly, minimizing creases in the screen material. It also reduces the load on the screen and the PowerRoller, extending the lifespan of both.
Thanks to the specially designed guiding system and the tilting motion of the drive unit, the roller screen can be opened or closed flawlessly. The couplings for the RPR100-4D PowerRoller ensure a seamless connection to the commonly used roller tubes with a diameter of 35 mm, 50 mm or 63 mm.
